Description

This Sweet Chilli Dumpling Stir Fry is a quick and delicious meal perfect for weeknights. Featuring crispy pan-fried frozen dumplings and tender baby pak choi coated in a sticky, flavorful sweet chilli sauce, it’s an effortless dish that comes together in just 20 minutes. Topped with fresh spring onions and toasted sesame seeds, this vibrant stir fry balances savory, sweet, and tangy notes for an irresistible dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Stir Fry Sauce

  • 4 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 large garlic cloves, finely grated
  • 1 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp light oil
  • 1 packet (12 pieces) frozen dinner dumplings
  • 4 baby pak choi, halved down the middle
  • 1 large spring onion, sliced (to serve)
  • Toasted sesame seeds (to serve)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and cook dumplings: Warm the light oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place the frozen dumplings flat in the pan and cook until their bottoms start to crisp and turn golden brown.
  2. Prepare the stir fry sauce: While the dumplings cook, whisk together the sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated garlic, grated ginger, and 2 tablespoons of cold water. Set the sauce mixture aside.
  3. Flip dumplings and add pak choi: Once the bottoms are golden, flip the dumplings to crisp the other flat side. Arrange the halved baby pak choi around the dumplings with the cut side down.
  4. Cook with sauce: When dumplings are crisp and thawed and the pak choi has lightly colored, reduce heat to medium. Pour in the stir fry sauce, cooking until the pak choi is just tender and the sauce becomes sticky and glossy, coating everything in the pan.
  5. Serve: Transfer the dumplings and pak choi to warm bowls. Garnish generously with sliced spring onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • This dish cooks from frozen, making it extremely convenient for quick dinners.
  • Feel free to swap baby pak choi with other leafy greens like bok choy or spinach for variation.
  • Add a sprinkle of chili flakes or fresh chili for extra heat if desired.
  • To keep dumplings extra crispy, avoid overcrowding the pan while cooking.
  • Great as a standalone meal or served alongside steamed rice or noodles.
