Description

This Simple Guacamole recipe is a fresh and flavorful avocado-based dip perfect for snacks, appetizers, or party gatherings. Made with ripe avocados, red onion, jalapeno, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, salt, and fresh lime juice, it delivers a creamy texture with a zesty kick. The recipe is easy to prepare, requiring no cooking, making it ideal for quick and healthy eating.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • ½ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely diced
  • ½ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 1 lime (fresh only)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits carefully, then scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the avocado to your preferred consistency, whether chunky or smooth.
  2. Add the Vegetables and Seasoning: Add the finely chopped red onion, seeded and chopped jalapeno, seeded and diced Roma tomatoes, and chopped cilantro to the mashed avocado. Sprinkle in the salt and squeeze in the fresh lime juice.
  3. Mix Thoroughly: Gently mix all the ingredients together until evenly combined, making sure the flavors meld but the texture stays pleasant and fresh.
  4. Serve Immediately: Serve the guacamole right away to enjoy its fresh flavor or cover tightly with plastic wrap to prevent oxidation if serving later.

Notes

  • Use perfectly ripe avocados with no large bruises; small brown spots can be scooped out.
  • Remove tomato flesh before dicing to prevent the guacamole from becoming watery.
  • A potato masher makes mashing faster and easier, but a fork or pastry cutter can also be used.
  • Always use fresh lime juice; bottled lime juice alters the flavor.
  • Red onion is preferred for flavor, but white onion can be substituted.
  • Classic guacamole includes cilantro; flat parsley is a good alternative if cilantro is disliked.
  • If jalapeno is not available, serrano peppers can be used as a substitute.
  • Optionally, add minced garlic for extra flavor.
