Description

Pickle Lemonade is a unique and refreshing twist on traditional lemonade, combining the tangy flavors of pickles with the classic citrus drink. This recipe offers a perfect balance of sweet and sour, with a hint of pickle brine for a surprising kick of flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Lemonade:

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 1/2 ounces bread and butter pickle juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces dill pickle juice

Additional:

  • Ice
  • Green gel food coloring (optional)
  • Pickles (optional for garnish)
  • Tajin Mexican Chili Lime Seasoning (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make Simple Syrup: In a saucepan, dissolve granulated sugar in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until sugar is fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.
  2. Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine fresh lemon juice, prepared simple syrup, and remaining 4 cups of water. Mix well.
  3. Prepare Pickle Flavor: Combine bread and butter pickle juice with dill pickle juice in a small jar.
  4. Fill glasses with ice.
  5. Assemble the Pickle Lemonade: Add 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of pickle juice to each glass. Fill the glasses with lemonade and stir to combine.
  6. Optional: If desired, swirl a toothpick dipped in green gel food coloring into each glass for a green hue. Mix well.
  7. Garnish: Top each glass with diced pickles and a sprinkle of Tajin, if using.

Notes

  • Mixing the pickle juice into each glass allows for customization of the pickle flavor to individual preferences.
  • Pre-made lemonade or lemonade mix can be substituted if preferred.
  • Store leftover lemonade in a covered pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir before serving.
  • For a frozen treat, pour the pickle lemonade into popsicle molds and freeze for 24 hours.
  • To make a cocktail, add 2 ounces of vodka, rum, or tequila to each glass of lemonade.
