Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and add kernels: Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to a large pot (3 quarts or larger) over medium heat. Pour in 2 tablespoons of popcorn kernels and cover the pot with the lid slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.
  2. Pop the popcorn: Shake the pot gently back and forth every few minutes to keep the kernels moving and prevent burning. Continue cooking until the popping slows down and most kernels have popped, about 7 minutes. Remove the pot from heat and set aside.
