Description

A delicious and flavorful Instant Pot General Tso’s Chicken recipe that is quick and easy to make. Tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory sauce, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions, perfect for serving over rice.


Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken:

  • 2 pounds chicken breast, skinless and boneless, cut into bite-size pieces

Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Optional Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Saute Chicken: Turn the Instant Pot to the saute setting and add chicken pieces. Add all sauce ingredients except cornstarch and water. Stir well.
  2. Pressure Cook: Close the lid, set to Poultry setting for 5 minutes. Natural release for 10 minutes.
  3. Thicken Sauce: Switch to saute setting, remove chicken, mix cornstarch and water, add to sauce. Cook until thickened.
  4. Finish: Return chicken to pot, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve over rice.

Notes

  • Read the Instant Pot guide before using.
  • Substitute chicken thighs, cider vinegar, or cayenne if needed.
  • Adjust sweetness by reducing honey or brown sugar.
