Description

Enjoy tender and flavorful Honey Dijon Garlic Chicken Breasts baked to perfection with a sweet and tangy glaze. This easy recipe combines garlic, honey, and Dijon mustard for a delicious main dish that’s perfect for weeknights or special dinners.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken

  • 4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 6 ounces each

For the glaze

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • pinch salt and pepper
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp whole grain Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and heat it in a 425°F oven while you prepare the glaze, ensuring the pan is just large enough to hold the chicken breasts with about half an inch of space around each.
  2. Make the glaze: Melt the butter in a small sauté pan over medium heat, add the minced garlic, and cook for 30-60 seconds until fragrant but not browned. Stir in honey, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until the glaze begins to reduce.
  3. Prepare the chicken: Lightly season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Carefully remove the hot baking pan from the oven and arrange the chicken breasts evenly apart inside the pan.
  4. Apply the glaze and bake: Pour the hot glaze evenly over the chicken breasts. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  5. Baste and continue baking: Remove from the oven, baste the chicken with the pan juices, then bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 170°F in the thickest part.
  6. Rest and serve: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute and ensure maximum flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the pan size is appropriate to prevent the glaze from burning.
  • Using a thermometer helps to cook the chicken to the perfect internal temperature.
  • You can serve this dish with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
