Description

A flavorful and easy-to-make ground turkey fried rice recipe that combines savory ground turkey, crisp vegetables, and fragrant rice tossed in a savory soy and sriracha sauce. Perfect as a quick weeknight meal or a delicious homemade alternative to takeaway fried rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup small dice bell pepper (about 1 bell pepper)
  • 2 cups thinly shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup carrot, peeled and shredded (about 1 large carrot)
  • 4 cups cool cooked rice (Jasmine or medium-grain white rice preferred)

Garnish

  • Chopped green onion (to taste)
  • Sliced chili pepper (to taste)
  • Chili oil (to taste)
  • Fried egg (one per serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sriracha, sesame oil, and fish sauce. Stir well to blend and set aside until ready to use.
  2. Cook Ground Turkey: Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium heat. Add ground turkey, breaking it into crumbles with a spatula. Cook, stirring frequently, until fully cooked through and no pink remains, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: Increase heat to medium-high. Add minced ginger, garlic, diced bell pepper, shredded cabbage, and shredded carrot to the wok with the turkey. Cook while stirring often for approximately 2 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened but still crisp.
  4. Add Rice and Sauce: Break up any clumps of cold rice before adding. Stir the rice into the wok along with the reserved soy sauce mixture. Cook and stir continuously until the rice is heated through and evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Transfer the fried rice to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions, sliced chili peppers, chili oil, and top each serving with a fried egg if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • No need to order takeaway—this homemade ground turkey fried rice is flavorful, healthy, and easy.
  • Using cool, preferably day-old cooked rice prevents clumping and helps achieve the classic fried rice texture.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha and chili oil to control spiciness according to your preference.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute turkey with firm tofu and omit fish sauce.
  • Make sure to keep vegetables slightly crisp for a perfect texture balance.
