Description

This Grilled Turkey and Cheese Sandwich combines crispy, garlicky Texas Toast, melty gouda and white American cheeses, and savory deli turkey for a decadent twist on a classic comfort food. Perfect for lunch or a quick dinner, it’s easy to prepare and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 4 slices Texas Toast frozen garlic bread

Cheese

  • 2 slices gouda cheese
  • 2 slices white American cheese

Meat

  • Sliced deli turkey meat (enough to cover 2 sandwiches)

Other

  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Bake the Garlic Bread: Preheat your oven and bake the Texas Toast frozen garlic bread according to the package instructions until golden and crispy. Set aside.
  2. Melt the Butter: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter, making sure the bottom of the skillet is evenly coated.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Place one slice of baked garlic bread in the skillet. Layer it with a slice of gouda, a slice of white American cheese, and enough deli turkey slices to cover. Top with a second slice of garlic bread to form a sandwich.
  4. Grill the Sandwich: Cook for several minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula. Grill until the bread is toasted to a golden brown and the cheese has completely melted. Repeat for the second sandwich.
  5. Serve: Once done, remove from the skillet, cut in half if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use different cheese varieties or add a slice of tomato.
  • Monitor the heat to prevent the bread from burning before the cheese melts.
  • This recipe is best enjoyed immediately while the bread is crisp and cheese is gooey.
  • You can use leftover cooked turkey instead of deli slices for a more homemade touch.
