Description

This Easy Fresh Strawberry Mousse is a light and refreshing dessert made with ripe strawberries, sugar, and whipped cream. It features a smooth, fruity mousse layered over a strawberry puree base and topped with fresh strawberry slices, perfect for a simple yet elegant treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12½ ounces strawberries (3/4 pound), cleaned and sliced
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream (with at least 30% fat content), cold
  • Extra strawberries for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Clean and slice the strawberries thoroughly to ensure freshness and uniform size for blending.
  2. Puree the Strawberries and Sugar: Place the sliced strawberries and sugar in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Remove ½ cup of this puree and set it aside for layering later.
  3. Whip the Cream: In a cold bowl, beat the cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form to create a light and airy texture.
  4. Fold in Puree: Gently fold the remaining strawberry puree into the whipped cream, being careful to maintain the mousse’s light, fluffy consistency.
  5. Assemble the Mousse: Divide the reserved ½ cup of strawberry puree evenly among four small to medium glasses (each glass holds about 1 cup). Spoon the strawberry mousse mixture over the puree in each glass.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled mousse for approximately 1 hour or overnight to allow it to set and the flavors to meld.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Top each mousse with fresh sliced strawberries just before serving to add extra freshness and appeal. Enjoy your delicious, easy strawberry mousse!

Notes

  • If using as a filling for pies or cakes, whip the cream until thickened and stir in the puree.
  • Bloom 1 tablespoon of gelatin in 2 tablespoons of milk for 1 minute, then gently heat until dissolved (do not boil).
  • Temper the gelatin by mixing a small amount of the whipped cream mixture into it, then fold the gelatin mixture back into the rest of the whipped cream to stabilize the mousse.
