Description

Festive Goat Cheese Christmas Present Appetizers are delightful and visually charming bite-sized treats perfect for holiday gatherings. Featuring herbed goat cheese elegantly shaped into gift-like squares on crunchy rice crackers, adorned with chive ‘ribbons,’ pink peppercorn ‘buttons,’ and fresh curly parsley leaves, these appetizers offer a combination of creamy, savory, and fresh flavors in a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Appetizers

  • 12 rice crackers
  • 3 chives
  • 4 oz. herbed goat cheese
  • 2 oz. curly parsley leaves
  • 12 pink peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Form Goat Cheese Squares: Place a 1½-inch square cookie cutter in the center of each rice cracker. Spoon about 1½ teaspoons of herbed goat cheese into the cookie cutter, filling it evenly to the edges. Use a small spoon or a plastic-gloved finger to press the cheese gently, then carefully remove the cookie cutter to leave a neat goat cheese square.
  2. Create Chive Ribbons: Using kitchen scissors, cut each chive into two pieces that match the length of the goat cheese square. Lay one chive piece down the center of the square. Cut one of the remaining pieces in half and place these halves on the sides of the center piece to form a cross shape resembling a ribbon.
  3. Attach Pink Peppercorns: Take a tiny amount of goat cheese and use it as ‘glue’ to stick a pink peppercorn at the center of the chive ribbon. This will secure the peppercorn to the cheese base effectively.
  4. Add Parsley Leaves: Place two small curly parsley leaves on either side of the chive ribbon on the cheese square. Using a toothpick or cocktail pin can help press them gently into the goat cheese to keep them in place.

Notes

  • Rice crackers tend to get stale after about an hour if refrigerated with cheese, but they remain tasty up to that time. To prepare these appetizers further in advance, use denser, wheat-based crackers like Ritz, which stay crispy longer.
  • If pink peppercorns are not available at your local store, they can be conveniently purchased online via Amazon or specialty spice shops.
  • For visual guidance, see the original post with detailed photos illustrating each step of the process.
