Description

Crescent Mummy Dogs are a fun and festive Halloween treat featuring classic hot dogs wrapped in cheesy crescent roll dough, baked to a golden brown. These kid-friendly snacks are quick and easy to make, perfect for a spooky dinner or party appetizer that combines gooey cheese, savory hot dogs, and flaky crescent rolls.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) or 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet

Fillings

  • 2 1/2 slices American cheese, quartered (2.5 oz)
  • 1 package (10 count) Oscar Mayer™ Classic Wieners Hot Dogs

Other

  • Cooking spray
  • Mustard or ketchup, if desired

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the mummy dogs.
  2. Prepare the dough: If using crescent rolls, unroll the dough and separate at the perforations to create 4 rectangles, then press the perforations to seal. If using dough sheet, unroll it and cut into 4 rectangles.
  3. Cut the dough into strips: Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 thin strips about 1/2 inch (1 cm) wide, totaling 40 pieces of dough.
  4. Prepare the cheese: Slice the American cheese into quarters to create smaller pieces (approximately 1/4 slice each).
  5. Wrap the hot dogs: Wrap four pieces of dough around each hot dog along with one piece of cheese, stretching the dough slightly to fully cover the hot dog and create the mummy bandage effect.
  6. Create the mummy face: Leave about 1/2 inch from one end of the hot dog uncovered by the dough strips to expose the “face.”
  7. Arrange on baking sheet: Place the wrapped hot dogs cheese side down on an ungreased large cookie sheet and lightly spray the dough with cooking spray.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 17 minutes until the dough is light golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  9. Add facial features: Use a toothpick dipped in mustard to draw eyes and mouth on the exposed hot dog face for a spooky mummy look.

Notes

  • A fun and easy Halloween dinner or snack idea for kids and adults alike.
  • Use mustard to create creepy facial features, or ketchup for a different look.
  • Make sure not to overlap dough strips too much to ensure even baking.
  • Allow to cool a few minutes before serving to avoid burned mouths.
  • Can be served with additional dips such as ranch or cheese sauce for variety.
