Description

Learn how to make a unique and decorative Butter Candle that is sure to impress your guests. This candle is made using softened butter, roasted garlic, and a mix of fresh herbs, creating a flavorful and aromatic spread for crusty bread slices. Perfect for special occasions or gatherings!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Butter Candle:

  • 1 1/2 cups (310 g) salted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves roasted garlic
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 2 sprigs fresh parsley
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

For Serving:

  • 1 loaf crusty bread
  • Baguettes, sliced and toasted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Butter Mixture: Whip together softened butter, roasted garlic, chopped herbs, pepper, and salt until well combined.
  2. Layer the Butter: Spoon a layer of the butter mixture into a Pringles can, tapping to remove air bubbles. Place the candle wick in the center.
  3. Build the Candle: Alternate layers of butter and tap down to remove bubbles, ensuring the wick stays centered. Chill the candle.
  4. Prepare the Bread: Cut a hole in the loaf of bread for the candle. Serve on a platter with toasted baguette slices.
  5. Unmold and Serve: Slice the can to remove it, trim the wick, light, and enjoy the melting butter candle.

Notes

  • A “grab and go” sized Pringles can works well as a mold, or use a clean soup can lined with plastic wrap.
  • Start with very soft butter for easy molding.
  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor.
  • Opt for a cotton wick without wax coating.
  • Press butter layers down to avoid air bubbles.
  • Chill the candle overnight for flavors to meld.
  • Light the wick 20 minutes before serving; candle burns for 1-3 hours.
