Spice Mix
- 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Bowls
- 2-3 medium potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 500 grams lean beef mince
- Lettuce, shredded
- Cheese, dairy-free or regular
- Pickle slices
For the Burger Sauce
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
- 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Prepare Spice Mix: Combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Set aside to use for seasoning both the potatoes and beef.
- Prepare Potatoes: Cut the medium potatoes into chip shapes, then toss them with half of the olive oil and half of the spice mix. Place the potatoes evenly on a baking tray or in an air fryer basket and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) or air fryer at 200°C (390°F), turning halfway through for even cooking.
- Cook Beef Mince: Heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the lean beef mince and brown thoroughly, breaking it up as it cooks. Sprinkle in the remaining spice mix and continue cooking until the beef is darkened and all moisture has evaporated, ensuring a rich flavor and a slightly crispy texture.
- Make Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until well combined. This sauce will add a creamy, tangy finish to the bowls.
- Assemble Bowls: Divide the crispy potatoes among serving bowls. Top each with shredded lettuce, the cooked beef mince, slices of cheese, and pickle slices. Drizzle generously with the prepared burger sauce to complete the dish.
Notes
- You can customize your Burger Bowls with additional toppings like avocado, tomatoes, or caramelized onions for extra flavor and texture.
- Feel free to adjust the spice levels in the beef mince according to your taste preferences, either by adding more spice mix or incorporating fresh chili.
- Using dairy-free cheese makes this recipe suitable for lactose-intolerant individuals.
- For a crispier potato chip texture, consider soaking potato slices in cold water for 30 minutes before cooking and drying thoroughly.
