Description

Bewitched Halloween Cupcakes are festive chocolate cupcakes topped with vibrant, multi-colored swirls of homemade buttercream frosting in purple, green, and black. Perfect for adding a spooky yet delicious touch to your Halloween celebration, these cupcakes combine moist chocolate cake with decorative, colorful frosting applied in intricate swirls using a 1M piping tip.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Cupcakes

  • 1 box Chocolate Cake Mix

Buttercream Frosting

  • 1-2 batches The Best Buttercream Frosting (depending on how many cupcakes you frost)
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Pink
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Blue
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Yellow
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Black
  • Wilton 1M Frosting tip
  • Decorating bag

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cupcakes: Follow the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box to make a batch of vanilla cupcakes. Bake and let them cool completely before frosting.
  2. Make Buttercream Frosting: Prepare 1-2 batches of the Best Buttercream Frosting recipe, adjusting based on the number of cupcakes you will frost.
  3. Color the Frosting: Divide the frosting into three portions. Color one portion with pink, blue, and yellow combined to create purple (approximately 1 cup), color another portion green (3/4 cup), and color the final portion black (1/2 cup) using the Wilton Color Right Food Coloring.
  4. Assemble the Frosting Swirls: Using a decorating bag fitted with a Wilton 1M tip, first pipe one and a half circles of purple frosting around the edge of each cupcake as the bottom swirl layer.
  5. Add the Green Layer: Pipe one and a half smaller circles of green frosting on top of the purple layer, making sure the swirl is slightly smaller.
  6. Finish with Black Swirl: Finally, pipe a third circle of black frosting, ending the swirl with an upward flourish to create a peak at the top for a spooky finish.

Notes

  • Use homemade buttercream frosting for best results and flavor.
  • Adjust frosting colors to achieve vibrant hues suitable for Halloween themes.
  • Ensure cupcakes are completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting.
  • The triple swirl technique adds festive color and texture, making these cupcakes stand out at parties.
