Chicken Drumsticks:
- 6 chicken drumsticks, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 pounds
BBQ Spice Mix:
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
Other Ingredients:
- 2 teaspoons olive or avocado oil
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
- Propellant-free nonstick cooking spray, like Chosen Avocado Oil Spray
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F for 5 minutes.
- Prepare Chicken: Pat the chicken drumsticks dry and place in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with oil and toss to coat. Season with BBQ spice mix and toss to coat evenly.
- Cook Chicken: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange chicken drumsticks in a single layer, cook for 10 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 8 minutes.
- Add BBQ Sauce: Baste the chicken with BBQ sauce and cook for 3-5 more minutes until caramelized.

- Use propellant-free nonstick cooking spray for air frying.
- Refined avocado oil is recommended for air frying.
- To double the recipe, keep the first batch warm in a low oven.
